How To Make Money From The Property Market
The recent economic crisis may have spelt hard times for many mortgage brokers, solicitors and removal firms as less property owners put their properties up for sale. However, recent improvements to the property market have spurred increased opportunities for businesses who base their income purely around the property market.
One estate agency to benefit from the recent upturn in property sales is Martyn Gerrard. In the last 2 months, their firm has successfully managed to complete 75 property sales – 32 more than January and February of 2009!
Yet, whilst all signs indicate that the property market is improving, traditional methods for selling property have rapidly changed…
Whilst in the past most estate agents would strive to advertise their property investments in the media, this method for selling properties has vastly altered with more and more estate agents turning their ambitions to property portals.
However, this area too appears to be changing with traditional property portals such as Rightmove and Findaproperty falling in popularity as estate agents choose to advertise properties on their own property websites.
And this method of advertising has been greatly enhanced by the Office of Fair Trading’s (OFT) recent decision to alter the role of estate agents within the property market…
In an attempt to encourage more estate agents to establish themselves as a purely online estate agency business; the OFT are advising estate agents to help property owners to sell their homes without the use of an agent at all.
By taking this approach to property investment, the OFT strongly believes this will help reduce the transaction costs of buying and selling property investments.
And it appears to be working…
Alongside Sarah Beeny’s reputable property website Tepilo.co.uk, other businesses are also making the daring decision to venture onto the property market, including Tesco who are reputed to be working with property firm Spicerhaart, to create Spareroom - a property portal that will enable property owners to advertise their properties independently.
