Is Now The Time To Expand Your Portfolio?

Increasing demands for rental properties by tenants is enticing more and more property investors back onto the property market.

According to research by LSL Property Services, over 40% of big-time private sector landlords (property investors who own more than 5 properties) plan to expand their property portfolio and invest in at least one new property investment in the coming year.

However, they are not alone…

Smaller property investors with property portfolios containing fewer than 5 properties are also keen to take advantage of demand, with over 26% telling LSL that they plan to invest before the end of 2010.

Commenting on this research, LSL believe promising rental yields and low interest rates are prompting many investors back onto the buy to let sector. Over 48% of buy to let investors are believed to feel positively about the growing potential of the private rental sector’s, whilst:

  • 46% of big-time property investors revealed that rising tenancy demands has encouraged them to re-invest

Assessing these figures it is impossible to ignore the fact that property owners are becoming increasingly dependant on buy to let to fulfil their housing needs. We can only hope that the government recognises its importance and takes action…
