Social Housing List To Swell
It would seem that the government have got a lot to answer for because of their recent department spending cuts…
With over 4.5 million property owners currently sitting on the social housing list waiting for a property; the governments decision to cut spending by up to 40% could force a further 570,000 people onto the waiting list, bringing the total to an impressive half a million people!
And it is no wonder that the National Housing Federation are now asking the government to rethink their decision and consider the implications this move will have on human, social and economics costs.
With less finance going into the development of affordable property investments, this situation is only going to get worse, especially as only 123,000 new property developments were built during 2009/10.
With a further 230,000 homes expected to not be completed by their 2020 deadline; the social housing waiting list is swelling and is going to continue swelling until the government amends for their mistake.
